A 14-year-old boy was hit and killed by a truck after he allegedly rode in front of it. The incident occurred in Dutchess County at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 8, on Vassar Road in the town of Poughkeepsie. According to Town of Poughkeepsie Police Capt. Ralph Cropley, at the time of the crash, a 2014 Dodge Ram pickup truck was being driven by a 60-year-old resident of the town of Poughkeepsie in a southerly direction on Vassar Road. A 40-year-old Wilton man is believed to have been drunk when he rolled his truck during a single-vehicle crash that ejected two young boys from the truck's bed and into the hospital, authorities said. Matthew J. Murry Jr. said he crashed his vehicle on Pettis Road in Wilton just after 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 6, the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office said. A 24-year-old Troy man said he is not guilty of the death of a 30-year-old father of four in Albany, but a judge is not letting him back on the streets, authorities said. An NYPD sergeant from the Hudson Valley was charged with DWI and hit-and-run following a pursuit with the New York State Police on the Palisades Interstate Parkway. Carlie Mace Reported Missing In Schoharie County
Police are asking for help in locating a woman from the region who has been missing for several weeks. Schoharie County resident Carlie Mace was officially reported missing on Monday, Aug. 5, weeks after relatives last had contact with her. Sheriff’s officials said her last known location was in Schenectady. Mace is 5-foot-6 and 210 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Duo Busted Posing As Rideshare Drivers In Capital Region, Police Say
Police are warning Uber and Lyft customers to be on the lookout for fake rideshare drivers. In Saratoga County, the Saratoga Springs Police Department received multiple complaints about people pretending to work for rideshare companies and accepting fares around the Saratoga Racetrack and downtown areas. Body Of Man Who Jumped From Hudson Valley Bridge Recovered
The body of a man who jumped from a bridge in the region has been recovered. The incident occurred on the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge on Saturday, Aug. 3. According to Trooper Steven Nevel of the New York State Police, a preliminary investigation revealed that a 21-year-old Montgomery man jumped from the bridge mid-span at around 11:25 a.m. The New York State Police Underwater Recovery Team recovered the body on Sunday, Aug. 4, 2024, at approximately 2:25 p.m. The man's identity has not been released pending family notification. A Hudson Valley man is behind bars after allegedly breaking into a motel room with a knife. A man threatening to jump from a bridge in the region was saved by a police officer. The incident occurred in Dutchess County at the Mid-Hudson Bridge in Poughkeepsie around 3 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 1. A woman has been charged after a 2-year-old died in a hot car in the region. On Tuesday, July 16 at approximately 6:45 p.m. in Sullivan County, police responded to a 911 call of a child left in a vehicle at the Sleepy Hollow Apartment Complex in Monticello. Upon arrival, officers located a 2-year-old boy in a 2012 Ford Explorer suffering from cardiac arrest, New York State Police said. Police are investigating after three people were stabbed during a fight in the region. The incident occurred in Dutchess County at around 12:15 a.m. on Wednesday, July 31, at Looper's Plaza, located at South Avenue and Wolcott Avenue in Beacon.
