A Bergen County man was carrying a loaded handgun reported stolen in Ohio 15 years ago when police responded to a dispute at a borough home, authorities said.
Officers responded to a Demarest Place residence in Maywood at approximately 8:06 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, on a report of a verbal dispute involving a person refusing to leave, Maywood Police Chief Terence Kenny said.

A missing 77-year-old man was rescued and an 87-year-old woman was found dead after a massive search in North Jersey on Tuesday, Sept. 1, authorities said.
John Higgins and Virginia Taetzch, both of Pompton Plains, went hiking at Pyramid Mountain around 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, according to a joint release from the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, Morris County Sheriff’s Office, and Montville Township police.
