Tractor-Trailer Tips At Treacherous Stretch Of Route 17 Near NY Border In Mahwah
UPDATE: Three lanes of northbound Route 17 near the Route 287 ramp at the New York border in Mahwah were closed Thursday morning after a tractor-trailer tipped. Detours were being set up following the mishap, which occurred just after 10 a.m., Police Chief James N. Batelli said. The driver escaped unharmed, he said. The site eventually was cleared and normal traffic resumed after noon.

Tractor-Trailer Pileup On Route 17N In Ho-Ho-Kus Backs Traffic For Miles
Three tractor-trailers were involved in a pileup that temporarily closed northbound Route 17 in Ho-Ho-Kus Friday morning. Traffic was backed up to Paramus after the crash near Hollywood Avenue just before 10:30 a.m. One rig jackknifed across the center and right lanes, and a significant amount of diesel fuel spilled onto the roadway when a saddle tank on one of the other tractors ruptured. Pedestrian, 81, Struck By Vehicle In Northvale Airlifted To Hospital
An 81-year-old pedestrian from Tappan was flown to a local hospital by medical chopper after being struck by a pickup truck in Northvale early Friday, police said. The victim was crossing Livingston Street, headed toward the Dunkin Donuts, when he was struck just after 6 a.m. "Ambulance and paramedic units arrived on scene and requested a medevac due to the severity of the injuries," Capt. Tractor-Trailer Rollover At State Line Closes Route 287 Overpass
The driver got out OK after a tractor-trailer tipped over Wednesday afternoon on the Route 287 overpass in Mahwah at the Rockland County border -- but area traffic wasn't faring as well. New Jersey Department of Transportation officials temporarily closed the overpass, as well as Exit 66 off the northbound highway, following the 2:45 p.m. crash. A 67-year-old Montvale driver was hospitalized after his SUV careened over the lawn of a Westwood apartment complex – narrowly missing landscapers – then uprooted one traffic light post before hitting another at a busy intersection Monday afternoon. Fire Consumes Tractor-Trailer On NJ Turnpike In Ridgefield Park
A tractor-trailer burst into flames on the New Jersey Turnpike in Ridgefield Park early Tuesday afternoon Southbound traffic was backed up for miles as firefighters doused the flames. Meanwhile, rubberneckers thickened the northbound side. Plumes of black smoke could be seen for miles. There was no immediate word on injuries.

Police Ticket Driver, Owner Of Truck Stuck On Ridgewood Hill
Police issued several summonses to the driver and owner of a tractor-trailer that got stuck Wednesday afternoon on a Ridgewood hill above the Ho-Ho-Kus train station. Paramus firefighters put down a smoky blaze that blew through a house Monday afternoon. Paramus EMS personnel assisted a woman who apparently was home when the Arbor Road fire broke out. Tipped Tractor-Trailer Spills Pallets Onto Route 287 Flyover In Mahwah
MAHWAH, N.J. -- A tipped tractor-trailer dumped a huge load of wooden pallets onto the Route 287 flyover in Mahwah near the Rockland border early Wednesday. The interchange was closed while a wrecker removed the rig and members of a New Jersey DOT Emergency Response Team cleaned up the mess. Ho-Ho-Kus Hit-Run Tractor-Trailer Destroys Traffic Light
HO-HO-KUS, N.J. -- Authorities were searching Wednesday morning for a tractor-trailer that destroyed a traffic light at a busy Ho-Ho-Kus intersection. A uniformed officer directed traffic while awaiting a Bergen County Road Department repair crew at the corner of Hollywood Avenue and North Franklin Turnpike. : Northbound Rt. 17 Remains Closed After Crash In Upper Saddle River
UPPER SADDLE RIVER, N.J. -- (UPDATE) A box truck slammed into a utility pole on northbound Route 17 in Upper Saddle River early Saturday night, igniting a chain reaction that kept the highway closed for hours. The pole snapped in half, downing wires across the highway -- which fell onto a tour bus and Jeep in the southbound lanes. No serious injuries were immediately reported in the crash near Lake Street, which also involved a tractor-trailer jack-knifing. Traffic remained detoured at Allendale Avenue past 10:30 p.m., more than 5½ hours after the incident.
