Waldwick Firefighters Douse Train Trash Fire
Waldwick firefighters doused a train fire in a hopper car filled with trash. The firefighters kept the flames from spreading with a tower ladder, along with a hand line, after the call came in from near the train station shortly before 10 p.m. Tuesday, April 25. They had the fire doused in under a half hour. A Bergen County Hazardous Materials unit took water and air readings. No injuries were reported. Lodi Bus Rider, 69, Injured By Chemical, Authorities Say
A bus passenger in Lodi had to hospitalized after she sat on what responders said was drain cleaner. The 69-year-old New York woman boarded the 164 bus near the corner of Essex Street and Maywood Avenue around 2:20 p.m. Sunday, sat down and immediately notified the driver of an injury, authorities said. Apparently “some type of liquid” on the seat “was causing a reaction on her leg,” NJ Transit’s Jim Smith said. : Tanker Rollover Closes Northbound Route 17 In Hasbrouck Heights
UPDATE: Northbound Route 17 remained closed indefinitely after a tanker truck struck a sedan and rolled over Monday afternoon near the Bendix Diner on Route 17 in Hasbrouck Heights, spilling fuel across the roadway. The 53-year-old tanker driver was taken to nearby Hackensack University Medical Center with knee pain and a cut on his finger, Detective Lt. Michael Colaneri Jr. told Daily Voice. He was carrying 3,000 gallons of diesel fuel when he apparently swerved to avoid a Mercedes sedan driven by a 17-year-old Rutherford boy and struck its rear passenger side fender, the lieutenant said. …
