Children Tossed From Fire Escape Into Hackensack Heroes' Arms
Hackensack firefighters caught two children tossed to them by their parents during an overnight apartment building blaze. The city's bravest arrived at the four-story brick building on Prospect Avenue shortly after 12:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 26, to find several residents on the fire escapes trying to flee the second-floor blaze. Investigators Probe Fort Lee Apartment Building Blaze
People shooting off fireworks apparently were responsible for igniting a fire at a Fort Lee apartment complex, authorities said. Members of the borough Fire Prevention Bureau were investigating what responders said was an accidental July 4th blaze at Arrive Fort Lee on Crest Lane. Firefighters doused the flames, which had spread to the building from two Dumpsters ignited by fireworks shortly after 9:30 p.m. Monday. Authorities on Monday identified a resident killed in a weekend apartment fire at a senior living community in Ridgewood. The body of Denise Dillon, 72, was found after firefighters doused the flames in her unit at the Ridgecrest Senior Housing development on Ridge Road shortly after 7:30 p.m., Police Chief Jacqueline Luthcke said. Firefighters in Morris County acted fast when they were called to the scene of a Morris County apartment fire, resulting in the brave rescue of a man and an unconscious woman trapped inside. Firefighters Douse Teaneck Apartment Complex Blaze
No injuries were reported after a Wednesday afternoon fire on the top floor of a four-story Teaneck apartment complex. The three-alarm blaze at the brick Walraven Apartments building on Ayers Court broke out shortly after 4 p.m. It spread through the cockloft into the walls, damaging at least two apartments, responders said. Firefighters battled a Sunday blaze that severely damaged a Haledon apartment building. The second-floor fire across the cockloft of the Belmont Avenue building, partially collapsing the roof and dropping part of the flaming cornice and soffit into the street. Firefighters from Montclair and neighboring departments responded to a blaze at an apartment building that displaced several tenants, officials said. There were no reports of injuries.
