PIERMONT, N.Y. – Maria C. Monterey, of Piermont, died Friday, June 24. She was 100 years old.
She was born on June 17, 1916, in the Philippines. She came to the U.S. in 1972.
She is survived by her nine children, Rosario, Carolina, Lily, Vicky, Napoleon, Bellafe, Teresita, Joselito and Maria Theresa; 30 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Norberto, in 2001.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Hannemann Funeral Home, Inc., 88 S. Broadway, Nyack.

Near & Far Aid Awards $10K Grant To Stamford's SoundWaters
STAMFORD, Conn. – Fairfield-based philanthropic group Near & Far Aid has awarded a $10,000 grant to SoundWaters Stamford in support of its STEM Academy.
SoundWaters’ STEM Academy provides hands-on, science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) programming for underserved and low-performing students. Founded in 1989, SoundWaters is the premier environmental education organization focused on the protection of Long Island Sound and its watershed. Annually, SoundWaters hosts shipboard and land-based programs for 28,000 children, including 9,000 from underserved communities.

TEANECK, N.J. – Audrey H. (Steller) Occhipinti, of Teaneck, died Thursday, June 30. She was 96.
Born in Jersey City and raised in Ridgefield Park, she resided in Teaneck for 60 years. An avid reader, she enjoyed painting and art.

Robert Jacobs, 74, Wyckoff Resident
WYCKOFF, N.J. – Robert P. “Jake” Jacobs, of Wyckoff, died Friday, July 1. He was 74.
Born in Paterson, he was a longtime resident of Wyckoff. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. during the Vietnam War era. He was an avid gardener.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carol A. Jacobs.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. The funeral service will begin at 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Valleau Cemetery in Ridgewood.
