Blue-Green Algae Arrives Early In Putnam County
PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. – Algal blooms have arrived early in Putnam County lakes this year due to the recent mild winter, closing at least six beaches so far this year.
Algae can be more than a simple nuisance and may present a serious health hazard. Residents should be cautious when swimming, boating or even just cooling off in waters with algae.

Hundreds Of Students Take Part In South Orangetown Steam Camp
ORANGETOWN, N.Y. – South Orangetown Central School District (SOCSD) welcomed more than 225 students to the first SOCSD Summer STEAM camp on Tuesday, July 5 at South Orangetown Middle School.
Students in first through ninth grades will spend two weeks immersed in areas of science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM). Seventeen teachers from all grades are teaching courses such as kitchen chemistry, fairy tale engineering, Rube Goldberg inventions, physics of sports, biology, coding, 3D printing and more. Students are grouped by age and take three-hour long courses each day.

Englewood Cliffs' Community Chest Awards $200K To 24 Organizations
ENGLEWOOD, N.J. – The Community Chest, a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization servicing Englewood, Englewood Cliffs and Tenafly, has awarded $195,000 in annual grants and The Harriet Tanner Impact Grant to 24 organizations.
This year's grant recipients provide services to meet peoples' needs of all ages in categories such as health and mental health, children and youth, older adults, arts programming, women, hunger, environment and volunteers.
