More than 24,000 Mercedes-Benz vehicles are being recalled over a defect that could lead to sudden loss of power, federal officials said.
Mercedes-Benz USA issued the recall for 24,092 vehicles, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report submitted on Friday, April 3. The issue affects certain 2018-2020 E-Class and S-Class models with 4MATIC all-wheel drive, including sedans, coupes, wagons, and convertibles.
The drive shaft's universal joint in the affected vehicles may wear down over time, which could increase the risk of a crash.

A Camden man was killed after being ejected from his vehicle during a fiery crash on Interstate 295 early Saturday, Oct. 11, authorities said.
Rasah Harris, 45, was traveling south on I-295 in an unknown make and model vehicle when he lost directional control around 1:12 a.m. near milepost 9.4 in Logan Township, according to New Jersey State Police Trooper II Christopher Postorino.

A 35-year-old cyclist was decapitated after he was struck by a vehicle that ran a red light in Elizabeth on the late evening of Sunday, Aug. 11, authorities said.
The cyclist was crossing North Avenue and Spring Street when a 20-year-old driver ran a red light and struck him, decapitating him, a spokeswoman for the city said.
