First Fatal Lightning Strike Of 2026 Kills Trucker, Fund Tops Goal
A fundraiser for a trucker’s family has surged past its goal after he was killed in the first fatal lightning strike in the United States this year, authorities said. Peter Paul Garamone Sr., 41, of Pennsylvania, died after being struck in Waukesha on Wednesday, April 15, according to police and his family. Emergency crews were called to the 2000 block of Golf Road around 7:43 p.m. for a report of a man down, Waukesha Police said. More than 13,000 New Jersey residents were without power Friday, Dec. 19, as a storm moved through the region as of 8 a.m., according to Jersey Central Power & Light and PSE&G. Morris County reported the highest number of outages among JCP&L customers, with 4,795 affected Friday, the utility said.
