A Clifton police officer was struck by a vehicle while assisting a disabled car on Route 21 North on Wednesday, April 1, authorities said. The incident happened around 9:38 p.m. near Route 46, where traffic was already slowed due to the disabled vehicle, according to Clifton Police Lt. Robert Anderson said. Video shared to social media shows Paterson Councilman Luis Velez after an apparent car crash early Monday morning, May 12, and the other driver says he had been drinking. Knolaisha Carter shared a series of photos and videos to Facebook after the accident, which according to Paterson police at 1:43 a.m. at 12th and Madison Avenues. A crash on Route 46 in Clifton shut down two of three westbound lanes Monday morning, the New Jersey Department of Transportation said. The incident happened west of the Garden State Parkway, NJDOT reported at 10:27 a.m. on Monday, May 5. Two left lanes were closed, and traffic was backing up in the area. A 21-year-old man missing from Cedar Grove since last December has been identified after his body was recovered from the Passaic River last week, authorities said. A Linden man was killed when his tractor-trailer crashed and exploded in Clifton, authorities said. The truck crashed into a barrier and caught fire on Route 3 West near Valley Road and Grove Street at around 9:07 a.m. on Monday, July 22, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia Valdes said in a news release. Two major crashes closed two major highways early Monday, June 24 in Passaic County. The first crash happened when a motorcycle and commercial truck collided just before 5 a.m. in the westbound lanes of Route 46, Clifton police said. The motorcyclist was hospitalized with serious injuries. All lanes were closed between Hazel Street and Paulson Avenue as of 9:40 a.m. Meanwhile, an overturned tractor trailer closed Route 80 in Paterson the eastbound ramp to Exit 58 just after 6:25 a.m., the NJDOT site says.
