A New Jersey community is mourning the loss of a father, coach, and mentor who died just days after a sudden cancer diagnosis.
Christopher (Chris) Woolis, 47, of Elmwood Park, was diagnosed with cancer on Tuesday, Sept. 9, and passed away only seven days later, on Tuesday, Sept. 16, according to Elmwood Park Little League President Steven Kochlick.

A New Jersey police department is mourning the loss of one of its own.
Millville Officer Ricardo Ramos died Thursday, Sept. 11, after a years-long battle with glioblastoma, surrounded by family and friends.
Ramos, who was born and raised in Millville’s Center City, was in his 20th year of service to the department. Over his career, he worked as a patrolman, detective, and field training officer, mentoring and coaching many officers along the way, police said.
A GoFundMe for the officer's family, launched by Kenny Sharretts, had raised more than $46,000 as of press time.

West Milford's Nick Weinzierl Dies Suddenly, 33, With Wedding Date Less Than Year Away
Nicholas "Nick" Weinzierl had just bought his first home and set a date to marry the love of his life. But earlier this week, the 33-year-old from West Milford passed away suddenly and unexpectedly, his family said.
Nick, who was born on Christmas, Dec. 25, 1991, died on Monday, July 14, according to an obituary on the D’Agostino Funeral Home website.

RWU Student Dies Suddenly While Studying Abroad In Italy
The Roger Williams University community is mourning the loss of a junior who died after suffering a medical emergency while studying abroad in Italy, the university announced.
Paige Moreau, Class of 2026, was an architect student and was studying in Florence when she died on Friday, April 26, school officials said.
Paige was deeply involved in campus life at RWU. She served as a Resident Assistant for the Housing Office and worked as a Building Manager with the university’s Student Programs, Leadership, and Orientation (SPLO) department, RWU said.

Clifton Mourns Losses Of Student, Principal Days Apart
Clifton is mourning the losses of a student and a school principal just days apart.
Juel Martinez, a Clifton High School student, died on Sunday, Oct. 6 after a nearly-year-long battle with cancer, a GoFundMe campaign launched for his family says. He was 15 years old.
On Monday, Oct. 7, School Two lost its dear principal Jennifer Lucas, as previously reported by Daily Voice. Her cause of death was not made public.

Clifton School Principal Dies: Remembering Jennifer Lucas
Jennifer Lucas, the principal of a Clifton elementary school, died on Monday, Oct. 7, school officials said.
Acting Superintendent Mark Gengaro announced Lucas' death in a letter to families.
Lucas, who helmed School Two, began working in the district as a music teacher at School 12 in 1995, where she continued to work as assistant principal.
