Man, 29, Shoots Himself In Head, Dies At NJ Gun Range: Police A 29-year-old New York man died after he shot himself in the head at a New Jersey gun range last week, authorities tell Daily Voice. The Yonkers man, who was not identified, was at the privately owned Long Shot gun range at 375 County Avenue in Secaucus on Friday, Sept. 5 when he shot at approximately 4:25 p.m., Secaucus Police Chief Dennis Miller said. Gun Fired, 16-Year-Old NJ Football Player Dead — Authorities Investigating What Went Wrong A 16-year-old was killed after a firearm discharged in front of a group of juveniles on Friday, June 6 in Camden, authorities said. At 12:35 p.m., officers responded to the 1500 block of Thorn Street and found Xyere Brooks with a gunshot wound inside of the residence, the Camden County Prosecutor's Office.  Brooks was transported to Cooper University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:15 p.m., prosecutors said.  Multiple juveniles were determined to have been in the residence at the time of the incident, police said. Haledon Officer Shot While Conducting Drill At Passaic County Shooting Range A Haledon police officer is recovering after an accidental shooting during a rifle course at the Passaic County shooting range this week, authorities said. The officer was conducting a drill during the week-long course when a round discharged into his leg on Wednesday, Sept. 10 around 12:45 p.m. at the range in Paterson, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes said. The Officer was taken to St. Joseph’s Medical Center for treatment for injuries that were described as non-life threatening.
