A former Olympic boxer from New York has been sentenced to life in prison for murdering his daughter in Pennsylvania, then driving her body to a Staten Island park to dispose of it, Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday announced on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2025.
Kabary Salem, 57, was previously found guilty in October by a Lebanon County jury of first-degree murder for the 2019 killing of his 25-year-old daughter, Ola Salem, an activist known for her work with domestic violence survivors.

Alexander Vargas, 30, of Babylon, was arraigned in Suffolk County Court on Monday, Sept. 29, on vehicular assault and related charges.
The crash happened around 2:30 a.m. Sunday, June 22, in Huntington Village. Vargas, a Suffolk County police officer off duty at the time, was speeding southbound on New York Avenue in a 2012 Chevrolet Camaro when he struck a 28-year-old man crossing at Carver Street, prosecutors said.
