Newark Man Arrested In Deadly Chick-fil-A Shooting In Union, Prosecutor Says
An arrest has been made in a deadly shooting inside a Chick-fil-A in Union Township that left a 23-year-old man dead and others wounded last month, authorities said.
Jaheed Fields, 20, of Newark, was taken into custody on Friday, May 1, in connection with the Saturday April 11 shooting at the Route 22 restaurant, Union County Prosecutor William Daniel said.
Fields is charged with murder, six counts of attempted murder, unlawful possession of a handgun, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

An 18-year-old Freehold Township resident, currently jailed for a stabbing on Thanksgiving, has now been charged with attacking a woman who was pushing a stroller in Howell, authorities announced Tuesday, Dec. 2.
At 4:55 p.m., on Monday, Nov. 17, the woman was walking with her 2-year old child in a stroller on Pinewood Road near Cecilia Court when she was approached from behind by Jaden Thompson, placed in a chokehold and thrown to the ground, Howell police said.
Thompson is charged with endangering the welfare of a child and simple assault, police said.
