A Guatemalan man was accused of kidnapping a Cape May County teen and trying to sexually assault her in Georgia, authorities said.
Sergio Gomez, 22, was detained on Thursday, July 18, New Jersey's U.S. Attorney Philip Sellinger said in a news release. He was federally indicted on Wednesday, July 17 for enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity, transportation of a minor to engage in sexual activity, and kidnapping.

A 61-year-old man was struck and killed as he crossed Route 9 in Middle Township on Wednesday, Nov. 15, authorities said.
Lee Nelson, of Rio Grande in Cape May County, was heading east when he was hit by a northbound vehicle at 6:29 p.m., at the intersection with Route 47, Middle Township police said.
The victim was airlifted to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City where he was pronounced dead at 7:52 p.m., police said.

Motorist, 31, Veers Into Woods, Killed In Fiery South Jersey Crash: Police
A 31-year-old driver was killed when his car veered into trees and burst into flames, authorities said.
On Sunday, May 1, at approximately 11:40 p.m., Middle Township police responded to the Burleigh section of Middle Township for a vehicle that had crashed near Shunpike and Oyster roads, police said.
Police found the vehicle had struck multiple trees, overturned and was now on fire, they said.
The driver was entrapped and unable to be removed from the vehicle.
The driver, Jordan Lee, of Burleigh, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
