'Your Computer Has Been Hacked': Tech Support Scam Costs Bergen Man $150,000
It might be emotionally painful for some to learn that a Bergen County man lost nearly $150,000 to a “your computer has been hacked” scam. Sadly, it’s true. The victim got a computer popup message “alerting” him to the purported hack earlier this month, Glen Rock Police Lt. Frank Riggio said. “Over the following days, he was advised to secure a large sum of money from his bank accounts to avoid further hacking,” the lieutenant said. Fair Lawn Native, 32, Killed In Route 208 Thanksgiving Day Crash
A 32-year-old driver from Fair Lawn was killed when his car struck a utility pole on Route 208 early Thanksgiving evening. William Hennecke was driving his 2002 Porsche Boxter convertible when it veered off the southbound highway and into a utility pole just past Maple Avenue shortly after 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 23, Fair Lawn police said. Exposure To Rat Poison Sends Glen Rock HS Student, Staffers, Police Officer, EMTs To Hospital
A Glen Rock High School student, five school staffers, a police officer and two EMTs were all hospitalized following exposure to a rat poison that the youngster brought in on Monday, authorities said. The student had a reaction to the rodenticide known as Thallium, Glen Rock Police Chief Dean Ackermann said. A man who advertised fake New Jersey temporary vehicle registrations for sale on Facebook was caught peddling them in the parking lot of a strip mall in Glen Rock. Photographer Boyd A. The risk posed by deer in densely populated areas this particular time of year was tragically illustrated when one had to be put down in Glen Rock after being struck by a car. The driver was treated by an EMT from the Glen Rock Volunteer Ambulance Corps for a minor hand injury after the deer smashed the windshield of a Hyundai Elantra on Maple Avenue on Sunday, Oct. 30.
