High School Swimmer ID'd As 16-Year-Old Killed In South Jersey Crash
The 16-year-old girl killed in a weekend South Jersey crash has been identified as a high school athlete. Sophia Bennett was killed in the two-car crash on Friday, March 22, at the intersection of Hurffville Road and Deptford Center Road just after 8 p.m., according to police and school officials. The vehicle that Sophia was riding in was being driven by a 17-year-old Gibbstown boy, who was seriously injured, police said at the time of the crash. Passenger, 38, Killed After Being Thrown From Pickup On I-295
A 38-year-old woman from Philadelphia was killed after being ejected from a pickup in a crash on Interstate 295 in Gloucester County, authorities said. Troopers responded to a motor vehicle crash on Thursday, Feb. 1 at about 6:58 p.m. on I-295 north in West Deptford. Based on a preliminary investigation, a Chevy pickup truck and Dodge passenger vehicle were traveling northbound on I-295, according to New Jersey State Police. A 27-year-old woman from Gloucester County was killed when her car collided with a tractor-trailer whose tire malfunctioned on Interstate 295, authorities said. Allison Dephillipo, of Gibbstown, was driving a Nissan Versa southbound in West Deptford Township at 6:35 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, when the Nissan struck the rear of the truck, according to New Jersey State Police.
