Sierra A. Thomas, 28, of Bridgeton, was charged on Tuesday, May 30 with second-degree leaving the scene of an accident which resulted in the death of another, according to Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae.
The critically injured pedestrian, Larissa Muniz, died on Sunday, May 28 after nearly three weeks on life support, authorities said.
Larissa was struck on May 10 by an SUV while crossing East Broad Street in Bridgeton on her way to a Wawa convenience store, police said.
Thomas initially surrendered to police on May 11, hours after the SUV she was driving was found in Vineland with its license plates removed, police said.
Thomas admitted she was driving the vehicle when Larissa was struck, police said.
Thomas originally was charged with third-degree counts of knowingly leaving a motor vehicle accident that resulted in serious injury and endangering an injured victim.
Larissa's mother had created a GoFundMe page to offset her hospitalization costs.
