A 7-year-old girl warned school and county administrators that her legal guardian was abusing her months before her death, according to a federal lawsuit filed Tuesday, Oct. 27.
Despite the warning signs around Jor’Dynn Duncan’s case, the alleged abuse was never mentioned at a custody hearing, allowing her accused killer to gain full custody, the lawsuit said.
Jor’Dynn died Dec. 29, 2025, after horrific abuse at the hands of Emily Kelly and Kelly’s family, according to Suffolk County prosecutors and the lawsuit.

At 2:03 p.m., George Sears was operating a Subaru SUV with his wife in the passenger seat, on County Road 563 south in Woodland Township, Christopher Postorino, a spokesperson for the New Jersey State Police said.

A 65-year-old Egg Harbor Township man was taken into custody after he barricaded himself with a gun in Absecon Monday, Oct. 26, authorities said.
At 8:30 a.m., officers were requested to assist Egg Harbor Township police in locating Robert McNeill, a suspect in an arson investigation, Absecon police said.

Human remains found in a shed in New York have now been confirmed as a woman who had been missing since 2010, police said.
Ashley Carroll, of Troy, was 24 years old when she was last seen alive May 6, 2010, according to authorities.
