Gang Behind NY Influencer's Murder Also Killed NJ Man, Feds Say
A violent street gang blamed for at least five murders was behind the killing of an influencer inside her car in Westchester County, authorities said Monday, July 20.
Ariela Mejia Polanco, 33, also known as Ariela “La Langosta,” was the victim of a carjacking gone wrong in Mount Vernon, the Justice Department said.
The feds said six members of the “Bad Boys 7” Trinitarios street gang targeted Mejia Polanco’s vehicle on Aug. 17, 2025, simply because it was a luxury SUV, not because they knew she was driving it, according to the Rockland/Westchester Journal News.

Murder-Suicide: NJ Man Stabs Girlfriend, Kills Himself, Prosecutor Says
A 64-year-old Camden man stabbed his girlfriend to death before killing himself, authorities announced Tuesday, July 21.
At 11:39 a.m. on Thursday, July 16, detectives responded to the 500 block of Bilper Avenue and found Marlene Campbell, a 53-year-old Lindenwold resident, with multiple stab wounds, Camden County Prosecutor Grace MacAulay and Lindenwold Police Chief Michael McCarthy said.
She was transferred to Cooper University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, authorities said. An investigation identified Gibbs as the suspect, police said.

Two New York City jail guards were among seven people busted in a $500,000 fraudulent check scheme, authorities announced Monday, July 20.
