A 25-year-old Irvington resident was sentenced to 12 years in prison on Friday, Feb. 21, after shooting a man during a 2023 robbery in Roxbury, costing him his leg, authorities said. Auraceli Maldonado admitted to shooting Selwyn Torres at the Roxbury Motel on Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2023, pleading guilty to robbery and aggravated assault, Morris County Prosecutor Robert Carroll, Chief of Detectives Robert McNally, and Roxbury Police Chief Matthew Holland said. 'Miracle of Morristown:' How Woman Who Lost Leg After Being Struck By Train Saved Her Own Life
Lisa Fitzgerald was two weeks shy of her birthday and commuting to New York when she lost her leg after being struck by train in Morristown on Saturday, May 4. Fitzgerald was on the Morristown platform with the injury when responders arrived at the scene, just before 7:25 p.m., a spokesperson for NJ Transit said.
