A 74-year-old North Bergen man was sentenced on Wednesday, Oct. 16, to 35 years in prison for fatally stabbing a man in 2021, authorities said. On Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2021, Augusto Perez stabbed Omar Cruz, a 64-year-old Albany, NY resident, to death behind the Ulta Beauty store in the Bergen Town Center mall in Maywood, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Muella said. Authorities have released the identity of the person killed in a crash on Route 23 earlier this week. Hamid Shabuddin, 55, of Paterson was a passenger in a 2005 Toyota Camry that collided head-on with a 2021 Ford F-150 at 11 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15 in the northbound lanes in Riverdale, a spokesperson for the prosecutor's office said.
