A Seaside Heights woman has admitted to killing a Toms River man whose body was dismembered, authorities said. Elizabeth Mascarelli, 29, pleaded guilty on Monday, Dec. 9 to aggravated manslaughter, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said in a news release. She was previously indicted on Thursday, Oct. 24 for murder, conspiracy to commit murder, hindering apprehension, desecration of human remains, and eight weapons charges. State officials are investigating a death during a police encounter at a New Jersey gas station. Deadly Double-Shooting Investigated In Trenton
A deadly double-shooting is under investigation in Trenton, authorities said. Jonathan Applegate, of Trenton, was killed in the shooting on Tuesday, June 11, according to Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri. His age was not released. The Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Trenton Police Department are investigating the shooting. Authorities have released additional information in the double shooting Wednesday, June 12 in Carteret. Two females were found having suffered gunshot wounds on Roosevelt Avenue around 9 a.m., and were airlifted to area hospitals, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Carteret Police Chief Dennis McFadden said. As of 2:30 p.m., one victim had died and the other remains critical, Ciccone and McFadden said. A 44-year-old man from Vineland has been sentenced to 45 years in New Jersey State Prison in connection with a double-fatal shooting, authorities said. Sheldon M. Goldsborough, Sr., was sentenced for aggravated manslaughter and other charges on Monday, June 3, according to Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae.
