A woman and a baby were killed when a boat capsized near Liberty Island in New York Harbor on Saturday night, Aug. 8, according to multiple news reports.
The call came in at 10:27 p.m. for a boat that had capsized with people in the water, Amanda Farinacci, a spokesperson for the FDNY said.
Thirteen people were reported to have been aboard the boat at the time of the incident, and 11 people were brought onto a rescue boat, Farinacci said.

An 89-year-old Pennsylvania woman has died after a vehicle left the roadway and became submerged in water at a Poconos casino resort, authorities announced on Saturday, Aug. 8.
Jeanette Radzikowski, 89, of Dickson City, was a passenger in the vehicle when it went off the road at 312 Woodland Road in Paradise Township, the location of Mount Airy Casino Resort, at approximately 3:47 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, according to Lehigh County Coroner Daniel A. Buglio.

A 25-year-old Bridgeton man was struck and killed by a vehicle, authorities announced Thursday, Aug. 6
At 9:35 p.m., on Saturday, Aug. 1, officers responded to W. Broad Street and Lawrence Street after Benjemin Finlaw Jr. was operating an E-Ride electric dirtbike when he entered the roadway and was struck by a vehicle, Bridgeton police said.
Finlaw was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The striking vehicle remained on scene, police said.
The incident remains under investigation, police said.
