Heavy rain on Friday, Sept. 29 closed major roadways across New Jersey. Gov. Phil Murphy declared a State of Emergency in the late afternoon, as rain continued falling, leaving drivers trapped in flood waters across the state. Dunderhook Road at Paramus Road in Paramus remained closed due to flooding, leading the borough's Office of Emergency Management to urge an evacuation of the area late Friday afternoon. A major crash delayed traffic on Route 80 in Morris County Saturday, Sept. 23. The crash was reported around 12:35 p.m. on the eastbound side of the highway, near Exit 28 in Roxbury. All lanes were closed as of 12:45 p.m.

A wrong-way crash closed a portion of the NJ Turnpike up for hours on Labor Day. The accident happened just before 1:40 a.m. on the northbound side of the Turnpike in Carneys Point, New Jersey State Police Sgt. Philip Curry said. A water main break in Paramus on Thursday flooded part of Route 4 and closed a busy exit ramp. Construction crews working near the exit ramp for Paramus Road off the westbound highway accidentally punctured the 16-inch main shortly before noon Aug. 17. A jackknifed tractor-trailer slowed traffic along Route 80 in Morris County Wednesday morning, Aug. 16. The crash occurred at 3:45 a.m. on the eastbound side of the highway in Montville, New Jersey State Police Sgt. Philip Curry said. The driver lost control, ran off the roadway to the left, and struck a guardrail. UPDATE: Northbound Route 17 in Mahwah as reopened around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday following a wild tractor-trailer crash earlier in the day. Driver Hospitalized In Route 287 Wreck
A driver survived a nasty overnight crash on Route 287, authorities said. Firefighters extricated the motorist, who complained of pains in both legs after his Mazda SUV ran off the road and struck a sign and a tree on the highway's southbound side near mile marker #60 in Franklin Lakes at 1:47 a.m., New Jersey State Police Sgt. Philip Curry said. The driver was hospitalized with injuries that weren't considered life-threatening, the sergeant said.
