SantaCon Shenanigans: 8 Arrested In Hoboken As Police Handle Fights, Crashes, Chaos
Some people attending SantaCon 2024 in Hoboken, including several from out of state, couldn't help but end up on the naughty list.
Hoboken police said eight people were arrested at the annual event on Saturday, Dec. 21, where people dress up as Santa Claus for a bar crawl, a spinoff of the popular event held every year in New York City (scroll down for details).
Overall, police issued 16 traffic summonses, dealt with 13 fights, and responded to three motor vehicle crashes, police said. Last year saw only two arrests.

Rockland Driver Had Pound Of Pot, THC Pops, Haworth Police Charge
A Haworth police sergeant nabbed a Rockland County driver with a pound of pot, along with THC lollipops and drug paraphernalia, authorities said.
Sgt. Gianluca Ragone stopped Tyrone Acosta, 32, of Sparkill on Schraalenburgh Road shortly after midnight Saturday.
The smell of raw marijuana led to the discovery of the drugs, Detective Sgt. Justin Fox said.
Acosta was processed and released pending a hearing on drug and paraphernalia possession charges, Fox said.

Rutherford PD: Hit-Run DWI Pickup Driver's Path Included Park Cars, Pedestrian, Tree, Fence
A Rutherford driver was drunk when his pickup truck hit two parked cars -- one of which clipped a pedestrian -- before it jumped the curb, careened across a lawn, took down a fence, struck a tree and kept going, authorities said Wednesday.
A police officer found the damaged 2017 GMC pickup a block away and took Ed McClary, 56, into custody around 9 p.m. Sunday, Capt. Patrick Feliciano said.
The 52-year-old pedestrian -- who was standing between her car and another -- was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center with broken bones before being released after treatment, Feliciano said.
