Two major crashes closed two major highways early Monday, June 24 in Passaic County. The first crash happened when a motorcycle and commercial truck collided just before 5 a.m. in the westbound lanes of Route 46, Clifton police said. The motorcyclist was hospitalized with serious injuries. A 47-year-old Bogota man was hospitalized after being struck by a tractor-trailer on southbound Route 17 in Hackensack, authorities said. It was shortly after 11:30 p.m. Monday, May 15, when Hasbrouck Heights police responded to the incident at their border, Lt. John Behr said. : Tractor-Trailer Fire Jams NJ Turnpike Rush Into NYC
A tractor-trailer burst into flames on the I-95 approach from the New Jersey Turnpike to the George Washington Bridge, clogging the Tuesday morning rush. The driver got the rig onto the shoulder of the local lanes near mile marker 117, roughly two-tenths of a mile before the Ridgefield Park exit, shortly after 6:30 a.m. May 16. Flames spread along the bottom of the trailer as the driver got out safely. Black smoke could be seen for miles. Ridgefield Park firefighters doused the blaze. No injuries were immediately reported. Four people died and one person was left critical in a crash involving two cars and a tractor trailer early Saturday, July 23 in Newark, authorities said. MAHWAH, N.J. -- One person was killed when a Jeep plowed into a parked tractor-trailer overnight Sunday on Route 287 in Mahwah near the New York State line, authorities said.
