A North Jersey restauranteur is expanding his empire with a tequila bar in Englewood. Ariel Espejo is opening Mexcal Tequila Bar at 24 N Van Brunt St. in the city sometime in February. Espejo, who runs Bent Hospitality with his partner, Michele Bittan, also runs Vida Garden, El Tango, Hidden Garden in Englewood and Tengo Steak in Moonachie. : Serial Burglar Makes Bogus Calls To Divert Police Before Multiple NJ Drug Store Break-Ins
A hapless burglar tried to keep police in a half-dozen Bergen County towns busy with bogus calls of carjackings, kidnappings and other threats to try and buy himself time to break into local drug stores, federal authorities said. Michael J. Gynegrowski, 34, hit pharmacies in Cresskill, Hackensack, Oradell, River Vale and Teaneck, usually by breaking a window, they said. Six of a reported 10 attempts failed, but Gynegrowski did swipe a significant amount of Oxy, promethazine and other medications from an Englewood drug store, investigators told Daily Voice. Ezra was born at 11:48 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, 2023, while his little brother Ezekial was born at 12:28 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 1, 2024, at Virtua Voorhees Hospital in Camden. Pedestrian Struck By Motorcycle, Knocked Unconscious Outside Teaneck IHOP
A Teaneck pedestrian was knocked cold when he was struck by a motorcycle outside the iHop on Cedar Lane, authorities said. The 48-year-old victim was rushed to Hackensack University Medical Center by the Teaneck Volunteer Ambulance Corps following the 5 p.m. crash on Tuesday, Dec. 26, Police Capt. Chris Kurschner said. Federal authorities took the first step Wednesday toward seizing a 37-year-old chef from Teaneck who was jailed locally on charges of sexually assaulting an underage teenager. It was a million dollar Wednesday for two lottery players in North Jersey. Two tickets, one sold in Bergen County and the other sold in Hudson County, matched all five numbers in the Jersey Cash 5 jackpot drawing on Wednesday, Dec. 13, splitting the $1.05 million jackpot and earning each player $525,330. The National Weather Service has released rainfall totals from the weekend storm. Between Sunday morning, Dec. 10 and Monday morning, Dec. 11, the area that got the most amount of rain was Deerfield with 4.45 inches, then Flemington/Hopewell, with 4.29 inches. Franklin Lakes saw 4.09 inches, the NWS says. Flanders only got .13 inches, and Florham Park only had .38 inches of rain.
