Recall Involving Bagged Carrots Expanded: See List Of Supermarkets, Products
An E. coli outbreak linked to bagged organic carrots has prompted an expanded recall as the number of cases grows. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that 39 people across 18 states have been sickened. The outbreak has resulted in 15 hospitalizations and one death. The recall initially began earlier this month when reports of illnesses linked to Grimmway Farms’ bagged carrots surfaced. Cybersecurity Issue Hits Stop & Shop, Other Supermarkets, Parent Company Says
A cybersecurity “issue” has led the parent company of a supermarket chain to disconnect some systems to protect them. Ahold Delhaize USA said it recently detected a cybersecurity issue within its US network. Aldi Coming To Hamburg Turnpike
Grocery shoppers in Wayne will have another place to peruse the aisles. Aldi, a German supermarket chain, will be opening at the Plaza Square Shopping Center at 625 Hamburg Turnpike in the township, according to Regency Centers, which owns the shopping center. The store will be 42,816 square feet, according to Regency Centers. An opening date has not been announced. Tenants at Plaza Square include a Wendy's and a T-Mobile. Aldi's has 61 locations in the Garden State, according to its website.

Popular Kosher Supermarket Opening In North Jersey
Seasons Express is coming to Bergen County. The popular kosher supermarket is opening a location at 465-467 Cedar Lane in Teaneck, replacing a Wells Fargo. The new Seasons Express comes on the heels of the supermarket closing its location in Clifton, after the store unexpectedly lost its lease. Currently, the only Seasons Express in New Jersey is in Lakewood. An opening date for the new Teaneck location has not been announced.

New ShopRite Opens In North Jersey
Grocery shoppers have another supermarket to try in Bergen County. A ShopRite opened in Fair Lawn at 22-00 Maple Ave. in the Maple Avenue Plaza on Friday, June 16. The supermarket offers a bakery, a café, a meat department and a wellness department staffed with a dietician. The 72,000-square foot ShopRite is run by Inserra Supermarkets, which operates 22 ShopRites and two Price Rite Marketplaces in North Jersey and Rockland County. The store replaces the previous Shop Rite in Fair Lawn at River Road which closed on Thursday, June 15.

Amazon Fresh will be opening a Paramus location. The online retailer's new brick and mortar supermarket will replace the Fashion Center's Fairway Market on E. Ridgewood Avenue, a company spokesperson told Daily Voice Thursday. Amazon last year announced it would be opening a grocery store at the shuttered Fairway Market in Woodland Park.
