Man Dies In Route 23 Riverdale Crash, Prosecutor Says
A man was killed in a multi-vehicle crash on Route 23 in Riverdale Tuesday, authorities said. A witness reported seeing a body covered by a sheet following the crash, involving a car, dump truck and possibly another truck at 11:10 a.m. The Morris County Prosecutor's Office confirmed the adult male's death in the incident but did not release his identity. The crash occurred at the southbound side of the highway at Windbeam Road and remains under investigation, police said. Police: Man Who Had Warrants, Passenger Found With Heroin At Budd Lake Shopping Center
An Ogdensburg man with two warrants out for his arrest and a Hackettstown woman were charged with heroin possession after police saw the car they were in speed to the back of a Budd Lake shopping mall, authorities said. Mount Olive Police Officer Spotts was on routine patrol when he saw a 2011 Ford in the parking lot of Mall at Wild Geese just before midnight Sept. 30, Mount Olive police said. Mahwah Home Depot Theft-Turned-Robbery: Ex-Con, Drug Offender Captured On Route 17 In Ridgewood
An ex-con with a 30-year history of convictions assaulted a Home Depot employee in Mahwah before he and two alleged accomplices were caught in Ridgewood, authorities said. Raymond McCutchen, 58, of Paterson, was accompanied by an Oakland woman with an extensive history of her own, mostly for drug offenses. A 12-year-old Totowa girl received sexually explicit texts and a gift in the mail from a 48-year-old Morris County man who works for an Essex County security company, said authorities who arrested him Monday. Michael J. Chiuchiolo Jr. of Riverdale “communicated with the child for several weeks” before her mother discovered the texts, which purported to be from a man in his late teens, Passaic County Sheriff Richard H. 30 Units Destroyed, Firefighter Hospitalized In Riverdale Condo Fire
A fire at a Riverdale condo complex displaced residents of nearly 30 units and sent a firefighter to the hospital for evaluation, authorities said. Everyone made it out of Building 4 at The Grande safely when officers arrived around 10:15 p.m. Friday to find a fourth-floor balcony in flames, Riverdale police said in a news release. A firefighter was taken to the hospital as a precaution, authorities said. Riverdale firefighters and surrounding agencies knocked the blaze down before it spread to the roof, police said. The Red Cross was helping the displaced residents.

Jurors in Morristown convicted a 37-year-old Wayne man who authorities said was drunk during a high-speed Morris County chase that ended in a crash. Pequannock police tried pulling over Derek Schor on Route 23 after he stole cigarettes from an Exxon station in Wayne in August 2017, authorities said. : Riverdale Store Owner Accused Of Selling Juul Pods To Minors
Tips from concerned Riverdale residents lead to the arrest of a convenience store owner accused of allowing his employees to sell Juul pods to high schoolers, authorities said. An investigation by Detective Eric Hollenstein found that Pranav Shah, 36 of South Plainfield, and his employees at a Hamburg Turnpike store had been selling the pods for more than $25 to students under the age of 21 from Pompton Lakes and surrounding towns, Riverdale Police said in a press release.
