NJ Woman's Brutally Honest Adoption Ad For 'Neurotic Mess' Chihuahua Goes Viral
A New Jersey woman is gaining national attention for a Facebook post she penned in hopes of getting her "neurotic mess" but "kind of cute to look at" foster dog adopted. Tyfanee Fortuna has been fostering Prancer, a Chihuaua, through Oak Ridge-based Second Chance Pet Adoption League since November. The 25-year-old Clinton resident began working at animal shelters when she was 12 years old, and currently has eight other foster pets at home. She's had dozens over the years, each one eventually going to a new, loving home. Rehoming Prancer, however, has proven difficult, Fortuna said. P…

Christmas Comes Early For Kittens Left For Dead At South Jersey Recycling Center
Finding objects that have been thrown away improperly with recyclables is not out of the norm for recycling workers. To their shock and surprise, three small kittens were inside the bag. They had apparently been placed in the backpack and abandoned in a recycling container. Miraculously, the cuddly kittens survived getting dumped into a recycling collection truck and then loaded onto the conveyors at the recycling center. T…

4 Kittens Have Second Chance, Thanks To Whoever Left Them Outside Of Oakland Shelter
Four kittens were given a second chance -- thanks to whoever left them in a cardboard box outside of an Oakland animal shelter. A Ramapo Bergen Animal Refuge staff member was walking a dog when she noticed the sealed box, with a piece of paper labeled "kittens" taped to it on Oct. 18, the organization said. "She brought the box to a safe place, dreading what she would find inside," RBARI said. "When she slowly opened the box, four tiny eyes peered out at her, quite frightened. "She breathed a sigh of relief that these precious tiny kittens appeared to be healthy and bright eye…

'We Need More Time With Him' Says Maywood Family Fighting For Rescue Dog
The Romano family of Maywood didn't know much about Buddy when they adopted him nearly 18 months ago. The vet guessed he was around nine years old and had probably been used as a bait dog. He had a scar on his leg, a few bumps along with chipped and missing teeth. Despite whatever it was he'd been through, all Buddy wanted was love. Last week, the Romano's beloved dog took a tumble down the stairs due to a sudden drop in blood pressure. Because of the fall, Buddy suffered internal bleeding and will need his spleen removed. The family isn't ready to let their dog go. "This pup has be…
