As expected, authorities charged a Little Falls man arrested following a Wayne bank robbery with an earlier holdup last month in Pequannock. Philip N. McGrantham, 69, made a bogus 911 call of a man with a gun in the parking lot of a Route 23 Target “as a ruse to divert the attention of law enforcement” while he robbed the Wells Fargo bank up the road last Thursday, authorities said Tuesday. An older, white male with a possibly-fake, black beard demanded money from the attendant at the Pequannock Wells Fargo bank around 10:45 a.m., Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. A 52-year-old Pequannock man was killed when his motorcycle struck a deer on westbound Route 80 near the spaghetti bowl in Wayne. Joseph Yurga was taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson, where he succumbed to his injuries after his 1996 Harley Davidson crashed shortly before 9:30 p.m. Thursday near the Route 23 intersection, authorities said. The drugged Sussex County driver accused of killing a father, son and gas station attendant in a fiery Route 23 crash didn't know that his heroin was laced with fentanyl, his lawyer said. Pequannock PD: 91-Year-Old Man Seriously Injured After Car Flips In Route 23 Crash
An 91-year-old man whose car flipped after rear-ended another on Route 23 in Pequannock was in stable condition Friday, authorities said. The man, who sustained serious injuries in the 5:45 p.m. crash Thursday, was taken to St. Joseph's Medical Center, Pequonnock Police Capt. Dan Comune said. The crash was under investigation by the Morris County Prosecutor's Office Thursday night. All lanes were reopened late that night.

Longtime Wayne resident Eric Heppel died suddenly of natural causes on Saturday, April 6. He was 47 years old. Heppel was born in Pequannock and lived in Wayne for more than 30 years, his obituary says. He graduated from Wayne Valley High School (1989) and continued his education at Montclair State University. There, Heppel earned his Bachelor's in accounting (1993). Heppel worked as a computer consultant for many years but always had a passion for theater, according to his obituary.
