Man Poses As Nurse To Kidnap, Sexually Abuse Women In NJ, NY: Feds
A Hudson County man who posed as a nurse on Facebook and the Hinge dating app kidnapped, assaulted and sexually abused several women in New Jersey and New York, federal authorities charged. Herman Calvin Brightman, 30, abducted one of the women and her 2-year-old child in the Bronx and brought them to his West New York home at knifepoint, said Damian Williams, the US Attorney for the Southern District of New York. UPDATE: Authorities officially identified a 39-year-old man armed with a semi-automatic rifle who was shot and killed by police in Manchester Township last week as the husband of an Ocean County prosecutor's detective. Shannon “Shane” Rose, 39, encountered police responding to a 911 call on Elizabeth Avenue in the Ocean County township shortly before 8:30 p.m. Dec. 6, New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin said. Winner, Winner: $1 Million Mega Millions Ticket Sold At NJ Convenience Store
A winning Mega Millions ticket from the Tuesday, Nov. 21 drawing, winning the $1 million prize, was sold in New Jersey. The ticket matched all five numbers drawn which were 17, 22, 25, 30, and 38. The Megaplier (4X) was 24. The ticket was sold at Caba Grocery on 147 Brighton Ave., in Perth Amboy in Middlesex County. There were also two $10,000 tickets sold in Morris and Ocean counties.

Road Rage Driver Gets Year In Prison For Crash That Killed Jersey Shore Newlywed
A 21-year-old Ocean County man was sentenced to prison for a 2021 road rage crash that killed another driver just weeks after his wedding. Avrohom Pam was 18 years old when he struck Brick Township's Sean Avon head-on, during a road rage incident involving a different driver in June 2021 in Lakewood, Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer has said. A propane tank is to blame for the home explosion that killed a 45-year-old Jersey Shore man on Tuesday, Oct. 31, authorities said. Kevin Thomas, 45, was found on his front lawn of 253 Neptune Dr., with serious burns, and airlifted to Temple Burn Center in Philadelphia after the explosion that turned into a fire ravaged his house, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Thousands Without Power In NJ Following Tropical Storm Ophelia
Thousands of New Jersey residents were without power Sunday, Sept. 24, after Tropical Storm Ophelia. Nearly 13,000 residents were without power Saturday, Sept. 23, but as of Sunday morning, that number was down to approximately 4,000. The bulk of the outages were in Monmouth County, where 4,636 were in the dark as of 10:45 a.m., according to the JCPL outage map. In Ocean County, 352 JCPL customers were without power.
