Six New Jersey wildlife areas are being closed to the public for the summer to limit illegal behavior, NJ Advance Media reports. NJ Man Paralyzed In Police Incident Will Get $10M
A New Jersey man paralyzed in a 2014 police encounter will get $10 million in what might be the largest police brutality settlement in state history. Xavier Ingram was being chased by police for an outstanding warrant and driving violation, when he tripped and fell on a Camden street, NJ Advance Media reports citing his attorney. NJ Woman Charged With Kidnapping 4-Year-Old Child: Report
A 25-year-old woman from South Jersey has been charged with kidnapping following the abduction of a 4-year-old child Monday, May 9, NJ Advance Media reports. Daishaliz Velez Fernandez, who has no known connection to the child, was being held in a Delaware jail after allegedly taking the child from Harvest Point Apartments in Salem, the outlet says citing authorities. Shoppers Showered With Cash At Jersey Shore Mall On Mother's Day
A man threw cash down to shoppers at Freehold Raceway Mall this weekend while shouting "Happy Mother's Day," NJ Advance Media reported. A shopper told the news outlet that the unidentified man does this on holidays several times a year. His generosity caught shoppers by surprise at about 1:20 p.m. on Sunday, May 8 at the mall in Monmouth County. A 21-year-old woman was shot by her boyfriend while on her way to the police station to report an earlier assault by him, NJ Advance Media reported. A police chief in Glouchester County charged in a domestic violence incident has been placed on paid leave, NJ Advance Media reported. Woodbury Heights Chief Joshua M. NJ Has 2 New Omicron Subvariants: Report
Two new Omicron subvariants have landed in New Jersey, NJ Advance Media reports. As of Monday, April 18, there were 80 cases of the highly-transmissable "stealth omicron" subvariants BA.2.12 and BA.2.12.1., the outlet said citing health officials. Transgender Inmate Impregnates 2 Prisoners At Edna Mahan: Report
Two prisoners at the Edna Mahan Correctional Facility are pregnant with the babies of a transgender inmate whom they had consensual sexual relations with, NJ Advance Media reports. A policy allowing prisoners to be housed in line with their gender identity was enacted last year as part of a settlement agreement for a suit filed by a woman who was forced to live in a men's prison for 18 months.
