Man, 64, Dies In Parsippany Garden Apartment Fire
A 64-year-old resident was killed in a fire in a Parsippany garden apartment Sunday afternoon, responders said. His name was being withheld pending notification of next of kin. A firefighter refused medical attention for a cut sustained battling the first-floor Rutgers Lane blaze, which broke out in the Rutgers Village Apartment Complex just after 12:30 p.m. and severely damaged two units, they said. Morris Plains Man Had Loaded Gun In His Carry-On At Newark Airport: TSA
A Morris Plains man headed to Florida was arrested at Newark Liberty International Airport Monday when a loaded gun was found in his carry-on luggage, the Transportation Security Administration said in a statement. The 22-caliber handgun was detected by X-ray at a security checkpoint in Terminal C. It was loaded with four bullets, the TSA said. Registration Now Open For 5K In Newark Benefiting Integrity House
Runners can now register for the annual Newark Corporate and Individual 5K, which will be held Oct. 2 in downtown Newark. The run will benefit Integrity House, the nonprofit substance-abuse treatment organization that runs programs in Newark, Jersey City, Kearny, Secaucus, Morris Plains and Toms River. Morris County Mom Held Daughter Above Her Head As Fox Bit Her Own Leg 3 Times
A Morris Plains mother working in her garden with her 2-year-old daughter was bitten by a fox. Sally Deeney of Brook Drive South said she thought a cat or dog was behind her Wednesday before she realized it was a fox covered in dirt, the DailyRecord reports. The mom held her daughter over her head as the fox bit her three times on the leg. Deeney's screams brought neighbors to the scene, who also screamed in an attempt to scare the animal.
