Three Newark men have been charged with kidnapping a man before shooting him and leaving him for dead along Route 80, authorities announced. Luz Hernandez's Ex-Partner Charged With Murder
The ex-partner of Luz Hernandez, the Jersey City teacher found dead earlier this month, has been charged with murder in her death. Cesar Santana, who was captured at a motel in Miami days after 33-year-old Hernandez was found dead in a shallow Kearny grave, was extradited to New Jersey on Feb. 21, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. The body of an audio engineer from West New York who'd gone missing earlier this month was found in his van parked outside an Englewood day care center on Friday, multiple responders said. UPDATE: Authorities are certain that severely decomposed remains found at the foot of the Palisades this week are those of an Alaskan man whose van was left with a suicide note at the top of the cliffs more than eight months ago. A body recovered from the Passaic River was that of a 78-year-old Woodland Park man reported missing on Labor Day, authorities confirmed. Fire department boats were summoned to the Hillery Street Bridge in Totowa, where a large number of police and Passaic County sheriff's officers had gathered around 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7.
