Midland Park Carpenter David Laauwe Dies, 42 David Laauwe of Midland Park died on July 21. He was 42 years old. Born in Ridgewood he has lived in Midland Park all his life. He was a carpenter by trade and was a former member of the NYC Carpenter’s union. David loved fishing, camping and quiet walks in the woods. He is preceded in death by his mother Janice Laauwe (nee Breur). He is survived by his father Alfred Laauwe and brother Gregory Laauwe. Visitation is July 25 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road in Franklin Lakes. Burial will be held privately at George Washington Memorial Park.

Uniformed officers from Midland Park, Ridgewood and Waldwick chased the furry forager through area yards. The bear played in trash, sunbathed on the grass, then hustled his tuchus up a tree behind a home on Evergreen Street around lunchtime. Right behind was intrepid photographer Boyd Loving. Driver Taken Into Custody After Pulling Into Ridgewood Driveway Ridgewood police took a driver into custody Wednesday afternoon -- apparently for being under the influence -- after she drove into a resident's driveway. A flatbed tow truck removed the four-door Ford Fusion from the Maltbie Avenue driveway to take it to an impound lot after the owner said it hit his car from behind. Wyckoff PD: Drunken Midland Park Pickup Driver, 74, Damages Property Wyckoff police said they found a drunken 74-year-old Midland Park paving contractor still sitting in his pickup truck after it barreled across and damaged a resident’s property. It was just before 10 p.m. Saturday that a Wyckoff woman called police and said the truck had “driven up her driveway and almost struck her house,” Lt. Joseph Soto said.
