Tragedy strikes again in Bayonne. The city is mourning the loss of Brian "Julio" Ahern, a lifelong community member and supervisor for the Department of Public Works, who died Saturday, July 6. Mickey McCabe was all about helping the City of Bayonne. The longtime first responder and community leader died on Monday, June 19 after a long battle with lung cancer, according to his obituary. McCabe and his wife Judy started McCabe Ambulance Company, which they operated for more than 50 years, his obituary reads. McCabe was also co-founder and chairperson of the board of BCB Community Bank and a founding member of the Bayonne St. Patrick's Parade Committee, according to his obituary. A pair of brothers who drowned in a Bayonne pool this week have been identified by NBC News. Jack Jiang, 16, and Chu Ming Zheng, 19, were in the deep end of a Lincoln Community School pool being monitored by three lifeguards when they were spotted in distress, local police said. The elder victim had just finished his freshman year at University of Miami, while the younger was heading into his senior year of high school. Two Dozen Cruise Ship Passengers Screened For Coronavirus After Docking In Bayonne
Nearly two dozen passengers aboard a Royal Caribbean cruise ship were screened for Coronavirus after the ship docked in Bayonne Friday, officials said. Four passengers from the Anthem of the Seas cruise were sent to area hospitals for further screening.
