TikTok Finds NJ Man Kidney Donor Months After He Discovers Long-Lost Son
A North Jersey man's will to live has been renewed after finding his long-lost son, granddaughter and then a kidney donor over social media all within the last several months. Jamie Fatato, of Weehawken, began suffering from kidney failure 15 years ago while visiting his mom in Florida, his girlfriend, Mariam "MJ" Mirbaba said. The kidney Fatato received from his brother back then began failing in 2018. Since then, 49-year-old Fatato has spent five hours a day, three days a week on dialysis trying to find a new kidney. A Morris County mom’s life has been “turned upside down” after she said she is desperately searching for a kidney donor for the second time. Debra Kaufman, 60, first developed end-stage renal disease after suffering from a related issue during her pregnancy several years prior. “I developed pre-eclampsia (high blood pressure) and was hospitalized for five weeks prior to delivery,” Kaufman recalled of the 1985 birth of her son, Bryan. “This condition led to end stage renal disease eight years later.” After undergoing several months of dialysis, Kaufman, of Denville, received a kidney donati…

Brandon Tellawy of Parsippany has been enduring daily dialysis treatments after he was diagnosed with kidney failure last year. Tellawy, who grew up in Kinnelon, was forced to put his pursuit of pharmacology on hold to keep up with his intensive treatment, which requires four nightly cycles of fluid to be pumped through his abdomen, Daily Record reports. Tellawy awaits a kidney transplant, and while his O-negative blood type makes him a universal donor, the same can’t be said when it comes to the …

Bergen County Rabbi's 2nd Organ Donation Helps New York Dad Live
Nine years after donating his kidney to a stranger, Bergen County rabbi Ephraim Simon has given an ailing father a second chance at life with his liver. Adam Levitz, 44 of Long Island, has suffered from Crohn’s disease since the age of 15 and was in dire need of a live donor as of December 2018. Simon of Teaneck is among only a handful of people who have donated both a kidney and a liver. Because many hospitals won't allow such -- including those in New York state -- Levitz and Simon of Teaneck traveled to the Cleveland Clinic for the successful operations on Dec. 20. “As a rabbi, I do a …
