Winning Jersey Cash 5 Tickets Sold In Bergen, Passaic Counties
A pair of winning Jersey Cash 5 tickets were sold in Bergen and Passaic counties.
The tickets from Monday's Aug. 1 drawing will split the $129,020 Jersey Cash 5 jackpot making each ticket worth $64,510.
Those tickets were sold at the following locations:
Bergen County: Krauszer’s Food Store, 109 West Pleasant Ave., Maywood; and,
Passaic County: Jackpocket, 355 Warwick Tpke., Hewitt.
The winning numbers were: 01, 23, 24, 35, and 38 and the XTRA number was: 03.
The retailers will receive a bonus check for $2,000 for each winning ticket sold.
CPA From Passaic County Admits Scheme To Hide $150,000 From IRS
A CPA from Passaic County admitted trying to hide $150,000 from the taxman with a little help from a friend.
His unidentified pal compensated William Kawam, 57, of Hewitt, for his accounting services by giving him a credit card belonging to one of the friend’s businesses, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger said.
Kawam racked up $146,605 in charges from 2015 through 2017 that neither he nor his friend reported, Sellinger said.
The scheme shortchanged the Internal Revenue Service by $54,400, he said.

Crash Seriously Injures Driver, 64, Outside Her West Milford Home
A West Milford driver was seriously injured when her sedan collided with a van right outside her home, authorities said.
Yolanda Tineo, 64, was taken to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center after her 2011 Honda Accord collided with a 2020 GMC Savana on a stretch of Germantown Road north of Route 23 shortly after 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, they said.
The other driver, Nicholas Kovatch, 28, of Hewitt wasn’t injured,
