Thieves Stole NJ Assemblyman's Car While Family Slept, Police Say
A Jersey Shore assemblyman's car was stolen by thieves in Hazlet, authorities said. Assemblyman Paul Kanitra, R-Brick Township, said in a Facebook post that his car was taken from his mother-in-law's house in Hazlet just before 6 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9. Kanitra was in Washington, D.C. for his work as the owner of the lobbyist firm Lobbyit.com. Kanitra said the thieves drove up to the home in a stolen white BMW with temporary plates. A Monmouth County youth soccer coach accused of molesting two players and sending sexual pictures to others was given more charges, authorities said. A grand jury indicted 32-year-old Ryan Gunsauls of Union Beach on 30 counts, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago said in a news release on Tuesday, Aug. 14. Central Jersey Youth Soccer Coach Molested Players, Sent Sexual Photos, Prosecutors Say
A Monmouth County youth soccer coach has been accused of molesting two of his players and sending sexual pictures to several others, authorities said. A Jersey Shore liquor store sold the winning ticket in the eighth-largest lottery drawing in U.S. history, officials said. The New Jersey Lottery said the Mega Millions ticket was purchased at ShopRite Wine & Spirits on Route 66 in Neptune Township. A New Jersey school district is mourning the loss of its former superintendent. Miguel Hernandez, 58, was currently serving as interim assistant principal at Manchester Regional High School in Passaic County, after retiring as superintendent in 2021. NJ Transit Train Strikes Car On Jersey Shore
A New Jersey Transit train struck a car on the Jersey Shore, authorities said. At 7:32 a.m., North Jersey Coast Line train 3224 crashed into the car at the Bethany Road crossing in Hazlet. The car's motorist was not hurt. No injuries were reported to the approximately 150 customers or the crew on board at the time. The train departed Long Branch at 7:10 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive at Penn Station New York at 8:41 a.m. Customers from train 3224 were being transferred to a following train. New Jersey Transit Police are on scene leading the investigation.
