Woman Fractures Head In 20-Foot Fall At Popular NY Hiking Area: Responders A 40-year-old woman suffered a fractured head after falling around 20 feet while hiking at Harriman State Park in New York, responders said. The rescue happened on Friday, March 15 after a hiker fell in the Torne Valley area in Harriman State Park at around 6 p.m., according to the Spring Hill Community Ambulance Corps. Bergen County Man, 31, Drowns In NY Lake During Family Outing A man on an outing with his family at Harriman State Park drowned after jumping into the lake and swimming about 100 feet away. The incident occurred in Rockland County around 6:30 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 18, at Lake Sebago in Stony Point. According to Trooper Steven Nevel with the New York State Police, a preliminary investigation revealed that Carlos G. Gomez Tay, age 31, from Palisades Park, New Jersey, was with his family at the lake and went swimming.  Tay swam about 100 feet away from his family and started calling for help, Nevel said. Chief Tom Kelley was scheduled for ankle surgery on Saturday. Otherwise, he said, he's fine. Motorcyclist, 52, Killed Hitting Deer On Route 80 A 52-year-old Pequannock man was killed when his motorcycle struck a deer on westbound Route 80 near the spaghetti bowl in Wayne. Joseph Yurga was taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson, where he succumbed to his injuries after his 1996 Harley Davidson crashed shortly before 9:30 p.m. Thursday near the Route 23 intersection, authorities said.
