UPDATE: Several people were taken into custody in a weekend brawl that brought police reinforcements from various towns to the Garden State Plaza in Paramus, responders said. No one was hurt and no major property damage was reported in the Saturday night flareup, which witnesses said quickly ended once borough police began making arrests. Paramus police nabbed a Newark man who they said participated in the carjacking of two men at gunpoint at the Garden State Plaza. Curtis L Brinson, 44, remained held Wednesday in the Bergen County Jail, charged with being an accomplice to carjacking and conspiracy. Meanwhile, at least one other robber was being sought. Police responding to a report of a man who pulled a pistol during a dispute at a Paramus mall grabbed two fleeing Brooklyn residents with a stolen handgun, authorities said. A fight drew a large police presence to the Garden State Plaza Saturday evening. The melee broke out on first floor near the AMC theater around 8:15 p.m. The Paramus Police Department was assisted by the Bergen County Sheriff's Office, along with officers from Ridgewood, Maywood, Rochelle Park and other local departments while diffusing the situation. : 'Shots Fired' Report At Garden State Plaza Turns Out Bogus
A call to Paramus police that shots were fired Wednesday morning at the Garden State Plaza proved bogus, authorities said. None of the businesses had opened yet at the mall -- although mall walkers and workers were there -- when the "swatting" call came in around 8:30 a.m. that shots had been fired at the T-Mobile kiosk. : These 18 Garden State Plaza Stores Offering Curbside Pickup
More than a dozen stores at Westfield's Garden State Plaza in Paramus will begin offering curbside pickup as nonessential businesses in New Jersey begin their reopening. Beginning this Thursday, May 21, shoppers can place orders online or call select retailers (scroll down for complete list) to place an order. JCPenney Files For Bankruptcy
JCPenney has filed for bankruptcy, becoming the largest retailer to crumble during the coronavirus crisis. The retailer has 11 stores in New Jersey and is expected to announce which ones will close in the coming weeks. JCPenney hopes to come out of Chapter 11 "and this pandemic as a stronger retailer," company CEO Jill Soltau said. The Garden State Plaza location shuttered in March 2018.
