Midland Park Mailman Charged: Video Shows Hit-Run SUV That Killed Hawthorne Man In Ridgewood
UPDATE: Bergen County prosecutor's detectives charged a 47-year-old postal carrier from Midland Park with the hit-and-run death of a Hawthorne man in Ridgewood earlier this week. Rafael Ramos was charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident and ordered held in the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance Monday in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo confirmed Saturday night. Woman Killed By Car In Edgewater Parking Garage
A woman was killed in an Edgewater parking garage Sunday night after she was pinned beneath a slow-moving car, authorities said. The incident occurred around 8 p.m. on the third level of the SOJO Spa Club on River Road, Police Chief Donal Martin said. Responding officers lifted the car off her and administered aid before Edgewater EMS took her to nearby Palisades Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 8:42 p.m., Martin said. Paterson Police Officer's Motorcycle Becomes Memorial; Condolences Pour In
The motorcycle belonging to 15-year Paterson Police Officer Tamby Yagan was converted to a memorial outside headquarters a day after he died in an on-duty crash. A purple and black drape covered part of the ride that belonged to the 41-year-old police veteran from Wayne, who was assigned to the traffic division. Yagan was killed in the 10:50 a.m. crash at 150 Getty Avenue, Police Director Jerry Speziale said. The cause of the crash remained under investigation as of Monday.
