Mom, Bergen County Kindergarten Teacher Nina Gumbman Dies, 32
Antonina "Nina" Gumbman (nee Cutrona) died on Wednesday, Oct. 30. She was 32 years old.
Nina was raised in Lodi and settled down in Hawthorne, where she lived with her husband, Keith, and their son, Nicholas, 3, according to her obituary on the Aloia Funeral Home website.
Nina worked as a Kindergarten teacher for 10 years, most recently in Elmwood Park at the 16 Avenue School.
A GoFundMe for Nina's husband and son had raised more than $20,000 as of Monday, Nov. 4.

An 18-year-old Paterson man hiding in bushes in Elmwood Park was found with a firearm, high capacity magazine, and hollow point bullets, police said.
Jhirmane Parks and three other unidentified males had brought police to Elmwood Court around 1:20 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, Elmwood Park Police Chief Michael Foligno said.

A 37-year-old man fresh out of jail for stalking was arrested just hours later in Bergen County, police said.
Daniel MacTaggart, of Elmwood Park, was jailed on Sunday, Aug. 11 on charges of stalking as a repeat offender, driving on a suspended license/registration, and failure to possess driver's insurance card, court records show.

Natasha Olson, a 28-year-old Elmwood Park resident, died on Tuesday, June 18, 2024.
In her obituary on the Patrick J Conte Funeral Home website, Natasha is being remembered for her boundless curiosity and radiant smile.
She is survived by her parents, Elizabeth and Eric, siblings, Maxwell and Astrid and stepfather, Ralph, according to her obituary.
A funeral was held on Wednesday, June 25 at St. Leo's Roman Catholic Church in Elmwood Park and she was buried at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.

5-Pound Pot Bust Behind School Sidelines Dealer: Elmwood Park PD
An Elmwood Park man who'd parked behind a local school had five pounds of pot for sale in his car, authorities said.
Officers approached the vehicle, which was parked behind the Gantner Avenue School, shortly before 9 a.m. on a Sunday, Elmwood Park Police Chief Michael Foligno said.
They found Richard Wochinger, 45, with a pound of marijuana each packed into five vacuum-sealed bags, a digital scale and assorted paraphernalia, the chief said.
Wochinger was charged with possession and distribution of the pot, among other offenses, before being released pending court action.
Out-Of-Town Driver Busted With 'Shrooms, Acid, Pot, More, Elmwood Park PD Says
Elmwood Park police busted a repeat offender with mushrooms, LSD, pot and prescription pills, authorities said.
Brandon J. Soto, 25, of East Orange blew a stop sign off the ramp from eastbound Route 46 onto Stefanic Avenue and was pulled over by members of the Street Crimes Unit, Elmwood Park Police Chief Michael Foligno said.
The officers had followed Soto’s 2008 Acura TL from the nearby Red Carpet Inn, the chief said.
Their suspicions aroused, they called for a Bergen County Sheriff’s K-9 unit, which lead them to a search that turned up a trove of drugs.

A law enforcement supergroup seized 12,100 folds of heroin mixed with fentanyl, 9½ ounces of crack, $107,089 in suspected drug money and a loaded gun while busting a drug-dealing North Haledon couple, authorities said.
Armed with search warrants, investigators hit 10 locations in Passaic, Bergen, and Sussex counties, leading to the arrests of Demoy Woolley and Qa’Lasia Williams.
