NJ Turnpike Crash Damages Elizabeth Overpass Sending Debris Onto Streets Below, Officials Say A vehicle collided with an overpass in Elizabeth sending debris flying onto the streets below, officials said. The crash occurred on the New Jersey Turnpike above Elizabeth Avenue Monday evening, April 15. Police said it forced the closure of Elizabeth Avenue at 4th Street.  The roadway reopened early Tuesday morning, officers said. No injuries were reported, authorities said.

Montclair Man, 29, Injured In Shooting At Elizabeth Nightclub A 29-year-old Montclair man was hospitalized after gunfire broke out at an Elizabeth nightclub Sunday, authorities said. The incident occurred just after 9:50 p.m. at Bamboleo on Elizabeth Avenue, a city spokeswoman told Daily Voice. According to RLS Media, the shooting happened at a large outdoor gathering where a confrontation became "out of control." That's when a gunman began firing multiple shots. Skeletal Remains Found On Elizabeth Waterfront Firefighters found what appeared to be skeletal remains while conducting training on an Elizabeth waterfront. The bones were found in the water near Elizabeth Avenue and Front Street Thursday, fire officials said. It wasn't immediately known if the remains were human or animal, firefighters said. Elizabeth Man Charged In Fatal Valentine's Day Stabbing An Elizabeth man was being held in the Union County Jail after stabbing a 67-year-old city resident dead on Valentine's Day, authorities said. Javier Ramirez-Jimenez, 48, was charged with reckless manslaughter in the death of Carlos Ariza, Acting Union County Prosecutor Lyndsay V. Ruotolo said Sunday. Update: Teen On Scooter Struck And Killed By Truck In Elizabeth A teen riding a scooter was hit by a truck in Elizabeth Wednesday night, according to witnesses and initial reports.  The 16-year-old was struck by a tow truck at Spring Street and Elizabeth Avenue around 8 p.m. and later died, officials said.
