A swimmer whose body was pulled from a Jersey Shore beach Wednesday died, authorities said Thursday. Three Point Pleasant police officers responding to reports of a swimmer in distress pulled the victim from the water on Jenkinson's Beach at Arnold Avenue around 11:40 a.m., Police Chief Joseph A. A 13-year-old girl was clinging to life after responders pulled her from a backyard pool in Mahwah on Thursday. The girl was among visitors to a Snow Drive home when she drifted into the deep end, responders said. Funds are being raised to help pay for an anguished Dumont family’s trip to Lake Tahoe, where a 29-year-old member was believed drowned. Ryan Normoyle of Closter had been vacationing when his rented boat was found drifting near shore on Aug. 10. What began as a search and rescue soon turned into a recovery mission that, as of Wednesday, was still continuing. Roxbury Man, 82, Drowns After Falling From Lake Hopatcong Dock
A Morris County man drowned when he fell off a dock and into Lake Hopatcong Thursday evening, authorities said. The Roxbury man fell into the water shortly before 6 p.m. near King Road, township police said. King Road is located along the King Cove section of Lake Hopatcong. Mt. A 25-year-old Newark man drowned at the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area on Saturday afternoon, officials said.
