Law Firm Founder Killed In Gore Mountain Skiing Accident Colleagues and loved ones are mourning the loss of a prominent attorney and businessman following his untimely death in a skiing accident in the Adirondacks. Kevin Colwell, founder and CEO of the Albany-based Colwell Law Group, died at the Gore Mountain ski resort on Saturday, Feb. 8, the firm said in a statement. He was 53. “This tragic loss has deeply impacted all members of the organization.” Colwell was found severely injured by bystanders and ski patrol staff near the Sagamore Trail around 11 a.m. Saturday, New York State Police said. Damaging Wind Gusts That Could Cause Power Outages Will Be Main Threat From Major Storm System The main threat from a significant storm on track for the region will be dangerous wind gusts that could cause power outages. The system will move in from the Midwest on Wednesday, Nov. 30. "At this force, tree limbs can break, weak trees can be blown over, and loose objects such as trash cans and recycling bins can become projectiles," according to AccuWeather.com. "Sporadic to regional power outages are likely." Frequent wind gusts out of the west/northwest between 35 and 50 mph are expected, especially later in the afternoon into the evening, with some gusts as high as 70 mph …

Severe Thunderstorm Watch In Effect For Much Of Region A cold front moving across the region is being accompanied by a rapidly moving line of showers and isolated thunderstorms, some of which are expected to be severe, with damaging winds that could cause power outages. The time frame for storm activity from the system moving from west to east is from around 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 13, according to the National Weather Service.
