The other two finalists are Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald and New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning.
The Wayne native played football and basketball under his father, Chris Olsen, Sr., while at Wayne Hills.
Olsen launched Receptions for Research: The Greg Olsen Foundation in 2009, after his mother beat breast cancer. His mission through the foundation is to ensure that everyone has a "second chance at life," just like his mother, the NFL website says.
Olsen, a four-time captain, ranks in the top 10 all-time in receptions (566) and receiving yards (6,627) and is approaching the top 10 in receiving touchdowns among NFL tight ends.
During his senior year, Olsen was one of three finalists for the Gatorade Player of the Year award along with former Miami Hurricane teammate Kyle Wright.
New York Giant quarterback Eli Manning is a two-time Super Bowl champion and Super Bowl MVP. The former No. 1 overall pick has spent the entirety of his 13-year NFL career at the helm of the New York Giants.
The father of three served as the chair of the New York March for Babies for the past seven years, which has raised more than $25 million. He has also raised significant funding for pediatric cancer research through Tackle Kids Cancer since 2015.
