Paterson Mayor Modifies Plans For Recreation Money

PATTERSON, N.J. -- Facing opposition to his proposal for a new city recreation tax, Mayor Jose Torres has modified his plans for how much money Paterson would allocate toward recreation services and facilities, according to a story on northjersey.com.

When he first proposed the new recreation levy, the mayor said the estimated $3 million it would generate could provide extra money in addition to the approximately $2.5 million the city already sets aside in its budget, northjersey.com said.

Torres said he revised his plans for recreation spending because it became clear there wasn’t enough political support for imposing the new levy in addition to the money in the budget, northjersey.com said.
